What Is Mindsight?

Mindsight refers to the claimed ability to perceive visual information — colors, shapes, text, objects, environments — while wearing a complete blindfold, without using the physical eyes. Practitioners across cultures report this is a trainable capacity, not a rare gift.

"Your mindsight does see this word. That is a fact. It now has to get it to your awareness — that’s you." — Rob Freeman, Vision Without Eyes

Core Training Techniques

Ranked by confidence score: number of independent sources, practitioners teaching each technique, and consistency across traditions.

★ Very High Confidence — 15+ sources

Passive Observation / “Going Empty”

The single most universal instruction. Do not concentrate or force anything. Clear all thoughts, become a passive observer. Report whatever appears without judgment. The first impression is almost always correct.

Right Brain Activation

Left brain (analytical, logical) blocks mindsight. Right brain (creative, intuitive) enables it. Activate through laughter, playfulness, and left-brain distraction tasks like foot-tapping, bilateral hand circles, or singing internally.

  • MP USA — Merpati Putih (Vibra Vision)
  • Art of Living — Intuition Process
  • Evelyn — See Without Eyes (Germany)
  • Referenced by every school analyzed

Color Card Identification

Start with 3 high-contrast colors (red, blue, yellow). Partner holds up one card at a time. Report the color impression — haze, fog, flash, or physical sensation. Calibrate by viewing each color with eyes open first.

Positive Reinforcement

Used by every practitioner without exception. Constant praise, celebrate every success, never criticize. The ability “needs recognition” — positive feedback strengthens the neural connection.

  • Nicola Farmer — “Never say no or yes — only praise”

★ High Confidence — 8–14 sources

Box Breathing

Inhale 4s, hold 4s, exhale 4s, hold 4s. Shifts brainwaves from beta (analytical) to alpha (receptive). Foundation for entering the mindsight state.

Head Movement / Beam Scanning

Perception arrives through a narrow “beam” that can be moved by turning the head. Default to aiming the left side of your head. The beam starts small and widens into “windows” over time.

  • Rob Freeman — “Default to aiming the left side”
  • Nikolai Denisov — “Cobra head” always in motion
  • Caesar — Beyond the Frequency 369
  • Nikki — VWE advanced student
  • Multiple VWE seminar alumni

Eyes Open Under Mask

Keep eyes open under the blindfold. Closing them signals the brain to stop visual processing. Open eyes = “I want to see.” Keeps the visual system in an active receiving state.

  • Rob Freeman — Vision Without Eyes
  • Nikolai Denisov — Eyes relaxed, not squinted
  • Arty — Online sessions
  • Caesar — “Open eyes = I want to see”
  • Robert — blindfoldedsight.com

Joy / Smiling / Emotional State

Smile and laugh under the blindfold. Think of something happy. Petting animals during practice opens mindsight. Negative emotions immediately shut down the ability.

  • Rob Freeman — Vision Without Eyes
  • Nicola Farmer — One full hour of continuous praise
  • Nikolai Denisov — “Inner happiness” is the correct state
  • Evelyn — Students smile constantly under blindfold
  • Art of Living — Intuition Process
  • Multiple VWE alumni describe petting animals

Progressive Difficulty Ladder

Colors → Shapes → Color+Shape → Dice → Large letters → Small letters → Words → Sentences → Pictures → Real-time navigation.

★ Moderate Confidence — 4–7 sources

Sunlight Activation

Sit facing the sun with mask on, eyes open, for 15–40 minutes. The contrast between darkness and bright light triggers the brain to find alternative perception pathways. Key breakthrough catalyst for many students.

  • Rob Freeman community — VWE alumni group sessions
  • Caesar — Breakthrough while practicing outdoors
  • Pat — VWE student, “starburst” colors
  • Heidi — “Soap bubble” prism colors through pinholes
  • Multiple VWE seminar alumni

Loose Mask / “Cheating” Technique

Keep mask slightly loose. Allow tiny pinholes of light. Look through them and pretend you can see. “Cheating is a tool to help mindsight come on.” Small dots gradually become real perception windows.

  • Rob Freeman — “Cheating is a tool”
  • Wendy Gallant — Co-developer of method
  • VWE seminar alumni group discussion
  • Arty — Online sessions

Facial Muscle Activation

Grinning, raising eyebrows, and yawning under the mask directly triggers window opening. “I grin and raise my eyebrows under my mask and I can see.”

  • Pat — VWE student, grinning + eyebrow raising
  • Kevin — VWE community, yawning activation
  • Rob Freeman group — Alumni practice session

Vibration / Energy Sensing

Each color produces a different tactile or heat sensation. Don’t try to name the color — notice the difference. “Go off of the air of yellow — like walking into a yellow room.”

  • Nate Zilla / MP USA — Vibra Vision (atomic vibration model)
  • Jave — MP USA student, “heat set per color”
  • Rob Freeman students — “Aura of a yellow room”
  • Robert — blindfoldedsight.com (chi/frequency method)
  • TJ — MP USA, sorted 52 cards by suit blindfolded

Difficulty Stacking

Add layers: eye patches + mask + towel + welder’s mask. When removed, windows are bigger — like lifting heavy weights then returning to normal.

  • Rob Freeman community — VWE alumni group
  • VWE seminar alumni — Practice session discussion
  • Arty — Patches + towel + welder’s mask
  • Nikki — Advanced student, patches under mask

Active Intent / Force (Denisov Method)

The opposite of passive observation. “It needs to be your activity, your wish, your intent.” Push like a gym rep, then rest. Prevents waiting indefinitely for breakthrough.

  • Nikolai Denisov — 20-Day Intensive (primary source)
  • Marina — Co-instructor and translator

Progression Stages

Based on synthesis of 65+ sources, this is the universal progression map from first sitting to advanced perception.

Stage 0

Pre-Training

Build belief. Acquire a blackout mask. Develop basic meditation practice. Reduce daily stress.

Before starting
Stage 1

Darkness Phenomena

Sparkles, “twinkling stars,” swirling patterns. Phosphenes and prismatic colors during sunlight activation.

Session 1 → Days
Stage 2

Color Detection

Faint haze or fog of color. May appear as brightness/darkness, warmth/coolness, or a brief flash. “Everybody can do that within the first hour.”

Days → Weeks
Stage 3

Shape Recognition

Geometric shapes through the mask. Initially partial — one side of a letter, one curve. May appear as negative images.

Weeks
Stage 4

Color + Shape Combined

Identify colored shapes (red triangle, green square). Multiple elements perceived simultaneously. Dice: color + dot count.

Weeks → Months
Stage 5

Letters & Numbers

Large capitals first, progressively smaller. Partial letters are common. The “Constructor method”: identify by component lines.

Months
Stage 6

Words & Reading

Short words, book titles, magazine headlines. Brain may “magnify” small text. Reading speed increases with practice.

Months
Stage 7

“Windows” Expanding

Small openings (pea → nickel → quarter) in visual field. Multiple windows may open and eventually merge into a continuous field.

Months → Years
Stage 8

Real-Time Vision

Brief video clips of environment. Occurs spontaneously during mundane activities. Gradually extends to sustained periods of sight.

Months → Years
Stage 9

Advanced Perception

360-degree awareness. Zoom capability. Through-wall vision. Remote viewing. Pre-cognitive sensing. Telepathy overlap.

Years of practice

Two Schools of Thought

A fundamental divide exists between practitioners. Both approaches produce results and may engage different neural pathways.

The Passive School

“Let the information come to you.”

  • Relaxation, surrender, emptiness
  • “The opposite of concentration”
  • Humor, laughter, playfulness as triggers
  • Works especially well with children
  • Loose mask, gentle approach
  • Colors first, then shapes, then letters
“Pretend you’re falling asleep watching TV.” — Rob Freeman

The Active School

“It needs to be your activity, your wish, your intent.”

  • Push like a gym rep, then rest
  • Active intent, not passive waiting
  • Maximum speed prevents analytical interference
  • Eyes closed (no mask), mandatory verification
  • Structured drill progression with benchmarks
  • Pen → Shapes → Letters → Colors → Books
“If you just expect and they appear when they decide to appear — you will wait 16 years.” — Nikolai Denisov

Dr. Ann DeSollar

MindSee
New York, USA

Neuropsychologist who originally set out to disprove mindsight. EEG research. Developed responsible curriculum. Children seeing within hours.

Scientific Evidence

While mainstream science has not validated these claims, several EEG and brain imaging studies report measurable neurological changes during blindfold perception.

Dr. Jeff Tarrant — qEEG

Quantitative EEG (19-channel) showed dramatic theta and alpha increases in the occipital lobe (visual processing center) during blindfolded perception. All visual processing areas activated identically to sighted viewing.

Dr. Ann DeSollar — EEG

EEG on blindfolded children showed electrical activity similar to normal sighted viewing. Visual cortex “lit up.” Mid-brain activation observed. Originally set out to disprove the phenomenon.

Prof. Pierangeli & Prof. Conti

University of Bari, Italy. Used instrumented zero-light masks to test InfoVision students. Confirmed zero light penetration during successful reading tasks. Most rigorous external validation to date.

Moscow Medical Institute — EEG

Verified temporal lobe activation (not occipital) during Nikolai Denisov’s students’ blindfold vision. Suggests a distinct neural pathway from normal sight.

Neuroplasticity Foundation

21-day neural connection stabilization. “Neurons that fire together wire together.” Supported by mainstream neuroscience. Beta → alpha brainwave shift during relaxation enables perception through alternative pathways.

Jonjo McFadden — EM Consciousness

Electromagnetic consciousness theory: consciousness IS the brain’s EM field. If true, mindsight may be direct electromagnetic field perception, not optical.

“The day science begins to study non-physical phenomena, it will make more progress in one decade than in all the previous centuries of its existence.” — Nikola Tesla

Sample Training Protocol

Based on the most commonly described methods across all sources. Designed for adults with a practice partner. 30–60 minutes per session.

01 Relaxation & Setup
  1. Progressive muscle relaxation or box breathing (4-4-4-4)
  2. Bilateral hand coordination exercises (circles/squares)
  3. Set intention: “I want to see. My mindsight is active.”
  4. Put on blindfold with eyes open, mask comfortable (not tight)

5–10 minutes

02 Calibration
  1. Partner shows each color card and names it verbally
  2. Student visualizes each color, feeling its “energy”
  3. Handle each card — feel it, see it, know it
  4. Start with 3–5 colors: red, blue, yellow, green, black

3–5 minutes

03 Color Work
  1. Partner shuffles and holds up one color at a time
  2. Student goes “empty,” reports impression
  3. Partner confirms with enthusiasm: “Yes! Great job!”
  4. If wrong, gently say what it was and move on
  5. Use left-brain distractions if stuck (foot tapping, singing)
  6. Laugh, smile, stay playful

10–15 minutes

04 Shape Work
  1. Black shapes on white paper: triangle, circle, square, plus
  2. Same passive observation approach
  3. Move head around to “scan” with the beam
  4. Accept partial shapes as success
  5. Progress to combined color + shape when ready

10–15 minutes (once colors are ~60%+ accurate)

05 Cool Down
  1. Remove blindfold, rest, drink water
  2. Discuss experience without judgment
  3. Celebrate any success, no matter how small
  4. Significant fatigue is normal — napping afterward is common
  5. “Neurons grow not during practice but during rest”

5 minutes

Rules for the Partner

  • Be constantly positive and encouraging
  • Never express doubt or frustration
  • Keep the energy light and fun
  • Move on quickly from misses — dwell on hits
  • Use “tell me” instead of asking questions
  • If student gets frustrated, switch to laughter and games
